WM7でOSアップデートの形式が変わる？

To the annoyance of many Windows Mobile users, when Microsoft does an operating system update -- from version 6.0 to 6.1, for example, or 6.1 to 6.5 -- that update cannot be obtained directly from Redmond. Instead, the update is only available when (and if) a phone manufacturer or carrier decides to make it available. This, of course, is contrary to the continuous, online updating users have come to expect from desktop OSes such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Macintosh OSX.

インチキ英語で読んでみたところ。
どうも、MSはOSのアップデートを従来（メーカやキャリア主体だった？）の方法から変更することを検討しているようですね。
つまり、従来のWindowsみたいにオンラインでアップデートできるようになるって事でしょうか。
そうだとしたらおもしろいけど、現在のWindows等で発生している、アップデート後の不具合とかってどこが面倒見るのか少し不安だったりします。
